Experienced C208 Seaplane Pilot

Swan River Seaplanes operates a Cessna 208 amphibious caravan to Rottnest Island, Margaret River and the greater Perth region right from the Perth CBD. An opportunity is available for an experienced floatplane captain, with a passion for delivering unforgettable tourism experiences, to join our small family team.

We operate from the Perth CBD over the Summer periods and venture to sunny Broome and the Kimberley region when the weather gets cold. Initially the position is a contract-based position from mid-November 2024 until the end of March 2025. There is opportunity for ongoing employment for the right candidate. Attractive renumeration package based on experience.

Minimum Experience/Qualifications:

  • Australian Commercial Pilot License
  • Current Class 1 Medical
  • Gas turbine endorsement
  • Float plane endorsement
  • Retractable Undercarriage Endorsement
  • Cessna Caravan Flight Review
  • 1000hrs total time
  • 500hrs float experience
  • 100hrs C208 experience

Desirable Experience

  • Night VFR or instrument rating
  • 1000hrs+ float experience
  • Current Dangerous Goods Certificate
  • Open water experience
  • Grade 3 or higher Coxswain or proven boating experience

Operations Assistant

As an Operations Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide support for operational tasks related to seaplane flights and tours, with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional customer service and attention to detail. You will collaborate closely with both pilots and management at the seaplane departure point in South Perth.

Additionally, this role entails the cleaning of seaplanes at Jandakot Airport, where you will be expected to work independently and maintain a high standard of work. Full training will be provided for all job responsibilities, and you will have opportunities for continuous skill development.

We are seeking an individual who shares our company’s vision, possesses a deep passion for delivering outstanding customer service, and is driven to advance their career. For the right candidate, there are prospects for progression into various roles within the company.

Work to commence on the 2nd of October 2024. Full training provided. Above award pay rates on offer for the right candidates.

Required Experience/Job requirements:

  • You will demonstrate a passion for aviation and marine tourism.
  • You will have 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service or tourism role.
  • You will be competent in the use of computer programs and use of emails. Training for reservation system, Air Maestro, and provision of EFB (electronic flight bag) will be provided.
  • You will have a high level of attention to detail and strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Social media skills are favourable.
  • You will have previous experience working within teams and thrive in a busy working environment.
  • A current Driver’s License and ASIC or willingness to obtain are essential for this role.
  • Able to attain authority to drive airside at Jandakot Airport.

Job Description:

  • Understand and adhere to the company SMS (Safety Management System).
  • Interact with customers, pilots, and management to assist with the effective provision of seaplane services.
  • Provide information about flights and tours to customers and potential customers.
  • Take direct bookings from customers.
  • Assist pilots in arriving and departing the pontoon.
  • Lead passengers during check-in, safely load and unload seaplane with passengers and luggage.
  • Communicate with pilots using company radio.
  • Answer enquiries about tours and flights.
  • Direct and indirect sales to customers and agents/hotels.
  • Drive company vehicles when pickups are required as well as other general duties.
  • Basic cleaning of jetty and check-in facility.
  • Cleaning of aircraft (interior and exterior) to a required standard.
  • Drive airside towing aircraft to and from washdown facility.

Boat Captain

As a Boat Captain, your primary role is to Operate a 12-seat marine vessel on Rottnest Island between the Fuel Jetty and the Seaplane Pontoon in Thomson Bay. You will work closely with seaplane pilots and other operational staff. The role requires a passion for tourism and a high level of customer service.

You will commute to Rottnest Island by ferry and occasionally by seaplane. You will be required to transport the marine vessel from Perth to Rottnest Island at the start of each working week.

As well as seaplane transfers, this role will require on demand point to point transport for customers on Rottnest Island between the Fuel Jetty and other marine vessels, bays and beaches.

This role requires the ability to work independently and communicate via a range of systems including email, Customlinc, Air Maestro and more. Full training will be provided for all job responsibilities, and you will have opportunities for continuous skill development.

Work to commence November 2024. Full training provided. Above award pay rates on offer for the right candidates.

Required Experience/Job requirements:

  • A minimum of Grade-2 Coxswain License
  • A current Driver’s License
  • You will demonstrate a passion for aviation and marine tourism.
  • You will have 3+ years’ experience in a tourism role operating marine vessels.
  • You will be competent in the use of basic computer programs.
  • You will have a high level of attention to detail and strong communications skills.
  • Social media skills are favourable.
  • You will have previous experience working within teams and thrive in a busy working environment.

Job Description:

  • Understand and adhere to the company SMS (Safety Management System).
  • Operate a tourism vessel with a 12+2 survey.
  • Interact with customers, pilots, and management to assist with the effective provision of seaplane services.
  • Provide information about flights, boat transfers and tours to customers and potential customers.
  • Sales calls to Rottnest Island Hotels, Resorts and Visitor’s Centre.
  • Take direct bookings from customers via a mobile system.
  • Assist pilots in arriving and departing the pontoon.
  • Lead passengers during check-in, safely load and unload seaplane with passengers and luggage.
  • Communicate with pilots using company radio.
  • Answer enquiries about tours and flights.
  • Drive company vehicles.
  • Cleaning of vessel and basic maintenance.
  • Be available to work on Rottnest Island
